Morose and yet excellent, each saturnine track on this (ultra) mini album teases dejection to an art form. Its like Teenage Fan Club meeting Sebadoh in a divorcees support group. 'The Birds Your Brothers' starts off in lo-fi styly, the rhythm of the tune whisking you away into a slow-bo indie rock heaven. The second tune 'I Feel So Bad (really)' is haunted by a deep seam of melancholia. Its real laconic self-indulgence. Lazy man. 'Thunderstruck' is more panoramic and grandiose, a motion picture moving you to oceans of sadness. Heh man its so fucking cool to be phlegmatic. 'The Wire' sets disconcerting drones as the backdrop to acoustic guitar shedding melody like tears. 'Nothings Wrong', provides a moments solace from the abject depression thanks to 'break of dawn' guitar melody that inevitably slides back into an introspective dirge. And that's it really, there's only five tunes, but each one's a fucking cracker believe me. If you're the kind of person who broke to pieces on hearing Radiohead's 'Bullet Proof' then this comes highly recommended. This release is distributed by Pinnacle, Catalogue Number LLL2120.
